Entrepreneurship can be a long lonely road filled with obstacles and it’s often traveled alone. Since almost no one cares to see you succeed but yourself, it’s on you to find the strength needed to go on. Here are five traits every entrepreneur leader must possess in order to get to the end zone.

Desire

To succeed you must have a burning desire to win. All of the great achievers throughout history have one thing in common. They have all been dreamers or desirers. Knowing what you desire is the first step to leadership success. Napoleon Hill, in his classic work, Think and Grow Rich, spelled it out perfectly when he said “What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve, regardless of how many times you have failed in the past.”

Determination

Determination is one the greatest assets we can possess. Determination is the tool we use to defeat discouragement. Determination is the tool we use to overcome failure. Determination builds character. It helps us meet our commitments. It helps us prioritize and manage our time to maximize positive results. Determination is the tool we use to give us the will to win. Determination is the tool we use to help us win in spite of our limitations. Determination is the tool we use to reach our goals. Determination is the tool we use to succeed.

Drive

Muhammad Ali once said, “Champions aren’t made in gyms, Champions are made from something they have deep inside them, a desire, a dream and a vision.” “They
have last minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have skill and the will but the will must be stronger than the skill.”

Dedication

You’ve heard the fable, “The Tortoise and the Hare” in which two animals have a race, and the tortoise wins the race by slow and steady plodding while the hare, overly confident of his victory, takes a nap after a short sprint. Slow and steady wins the race. Dedicate yourself to being a student of success first and then working your way to mastering success.

Self-Discipline

Self-discipline is the master key that unlocks success. In order to succeed in any facet of your life you must master the skill of self-discipline. Discipline is described as doing what must be done whether you feel like it or not. Self-discipline involves acting according to what you think instead of how you feel in the moment. Often it involves sacrificing the pleasure and thrill of the moment for what matters most in life.
